speaks on the Irish language and broadcasting. Ó Ciardha is
Leascheannasaí (Deputy Chief Executive) of TG4, the Irish-language
television station. This annual lecture was established in 2006 to
commemorate Barra O Donnabháin, a beloved and influential teacher and advocate of the language in the United States.

Pádhraic Ó Ciardha A native speaker of Irish from Cois Fharraige in the Galway Gaeltacht, he is Leascheannasaí (Deputy Chief Executive), of TG4. His current responsibilities include corporate affairs and public relations. He has been a senior executive with the station since its inception, was a central figure in advising the Government about the issue in the pre-establishment phase and is regarded as one of the main architects of the TG4 project.
He has extensive experience in broadcasting policy and journalism and had been a central figure in the establishment and development of the Irish language television service. His earlier broadcasting career included stints with Raidió na Gaeltachta, establishing its Dublin bureau, three years as Editor of the RTÉ Nuacht service and playing a key editorial role on the founding team for the flagship breakfast time Morning Ireland radio news program on RTÉ Radio 1.
Pádhraic Ó Ciardha Is as Cois Fharraige i nGaeltacht na Gaillimhe ó dhúchas dó. Tá sé ina Leascheannasaí ar TG4 le deich mbliana agus tá taithí fhada, fhairsing aige ar an gcraoltóireacht agus ar an iriseoireacht chraolta. Is é ionadaí reatha TG4 ar go leor scátheagras, ina measc Cónaidhm Chlos-Amharc na hÉireann (IBEC), Féile na Meán Ceilteach. Áirítear é ar dhuine d’ailtirí na seirbhíse teilifíse Gaeilge agus tá sé ina fheidhmeannach sinsearach leis an gcainéal ón tús. Bhí dhá thréimhse caite aige roimhe sin mar Chomhairleoir Craolacháin lán-aimseartha ag an mbeirt Airí faoinár cuireadh dlús le bunú TG4, Michael D Higgins (1993-1994) agus Máire Geoghegan-Quinn (1992-1993).
Bhí sé ina Eagarthóir, Nuacht RTÉ 1986-1992, (raidió agus teilifís), mar Eagarthóir leis ar an mheitheal a bhunaigh an clár aitheanta Morning Ireland ar RTE Raidió 1. Roimhe sin b’é an chéad Chlár Reachtaire Raidió na Gaeltachta i mBaile Átha Cliath é.
